In February 2025, I had the privilege of contributing to the Nutrition Impact at Scale project, a groundbreaking initiative led by the Community Women's Enterprise Network in collaboration with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN). This project aimed at integrating nutrition and market systems for sustainable growth, and I played a key role in facilitating the training for 21 MSMEs. These enterprises were equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to improve the production and consumption of nutritious food products in four critical value chains: peanuts, soybeans, pineapples, and fish.
My contribution included guiding the participants through key areas such as market-driven nutrition strategies, value addition, and quality assurance. I also supported the entrepreneurs in exploring ways to extend the shelf-life of their products and access new markets. The training helped them navigate regulatory challenges and integrate financial management and marketing strategies into their businesses. The impact of this initiative was significant as it empowered local businesses to create competitive, nutrition-rich products, contributing directly to the health and economic sustainability of their communities. Moving forward, we are already planning the next cohorts in Wakiso, with an added focus on mentorship to foster greater growth for these MSMEs.
